In 2010 over 20% of ALL TRAVELERS TO MEXICO were Canadian with an 8% increase in total visits over 2009. There were 1.6 million trips from Canada to Mexico in 2009. In short, Canada loves Mexico.

In the Puerto Vallarta area Canadians make up 35% of all real estate purchases. In Los Cabos this percentage is much higher at nearly 60% and in Lake Chapala there are rumors that there are 10's of thousands of Canadians living a utopian lifestyle. 

Canadians are retiring to Mexico and buying real estate more than any other nationality in the world.

. While we technically do more day trips to the United States this is mainly for cheap gas and cheap cheese - Canadians appreciate a deal! With a population of only 33 million, Canada is a concentrated market that can be accessed for considerably less marketing dollars than the American visitor. Canadians are higher educated, have more personal income and love to golf!(nearly 80 million tee times last year in a country covered by snow for 6-8 months of the year...) We also have a much higher percentage of passport holders and are more well-travelled than our American neighbours.

I have a client who will be celebrating her boyfriend's 50th birthday in Playa (or maybe Cozumel) in early October.
